Garden Group 6:30 PM

March 20, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Hi Everyone

Ever wondered what’s living in a handful our dirt?  Come to our meeting next Tuesday and hear from experts about how complex and interesting interesting soil can be!  We are so fortunate to have speakers who presented at the Nevada Small Farm Conference and from the National Resouces and Conservation Service (NRCS), come to Washoe Valley this month to share some of the big and small picture information about how very important our soil is.  Even if you, personally do not grow things, it is important for your children and grandchildren’s future.  Soil for food production, medicine, and wood products is diminishing world-wide.  And soil that is being cultivated, much of it, is being exhausted due to overuse or damage from chemicals at an alarming rate.  The care and feeding of our soil is critical to protecting food supplies everywhere.  You may think soil is not the most exciting topic, but I can assure you, these speakers will convince you otherwise.

Come and learn how you can be part of the soluction regarding the science of soil, best practices for caring for the soil in your yard or garden, and how best to respect this valuable resource through being a caring earthling.
Meeting begins with a potluck and then we begin our program of speakers.  This is a very intertaining and interesting program.  Bring a dish to share (and a little extra this month if you’re able, we have guests), a beverage of your choice and your utensils.  Paper products will also be provided.  If you are willing to help with setup or reassembling the hall when we’re done, please arrive by 6:00 or plan to stay a little after the workshop.  Help is always appreciated.
